If you don't watch Argentine soccer regularly, it's possible that you don't know who Martin Palermo is. He's won about 14 titles, scored over 222 goals in Boca Juniors and is their record striker.
Triolectics: Three sided football
An interesting game that borrows from the most popular sport in the world. Developed by Asger John in 1964, not as popular as Joel Silver's Ultimate Frisbee. Worth watching.
News: Opening game in 3D. First impressions.
I've been curious to watch one of these famed '3D' games for a while now. Last April at NAB, I attended several 3D panels and folks from ESPN suggested that one of the strongest experiences that would bring 3D into the home would be live sports. I've missed opportunities to watch the PGA Masters broacasts, and NCAA games, but being a hardcore Soccer (Futbol) fan, I've been most excited about this possibility. It did not disappoint, but not without some concessions. I will be as detailed as po...

News: Brazil keeps getting away with more than two hands.
If you happened to be watching Brazil vs. Portugal, you might have noticed something weird in keeper Julio Cesar's back after he and Meirelles collided. It was some kind of steel rod support for his injured back. According to FIFA article 4, it's illegal for players to wear any kind of equipment that can be dangerous to the player wearing it or to others. This is the reason players can't wear chains around their necks, or rings in their fingers, since these things can get caught with other pl...

News: Attendance woes make FIFA take notice.
This article aggregates a lot of things that have been said about the World Cup experience this year (South Africa's infrastructure, low scoring games, uninteresting first round match-ups, etc). I've noticed in a few broadcasts that upper seating areas are not filled to capacity and maybe the vuvuzelas make up for this. I think this will change once the Knock-out stages begin, but Nick Webster has a point:

Brazil: I tawt I taw two handballs...
Still didn't top Diego Maradona in the categories of "Political Relevance" and "The second goal was even better." And I'd love to know what the ref told Luis Fabiano after he scored. What's that cynical grin?

News: Analysis of the England vs. USA match
Posted with permission via HereComeTheYanks.com Ok, so my prediction of a 3-1 USA victory didn't come true. But I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with a 1-1 draw!! There were times where we looked shaky (first 15 minutes). But there were also times when we were taking it to them (Jozy's great run down the flank only to be denied by the woodwork).
